Ohio: Church school children donate to help a child in need

The youth of St. Andrew Church in Maple Heights, Ohio (Orthodox Church in America) are helping a child in need this Christmas season.

The children fundraise throughout the year by hosting various brunches and coffee hours. Each year during the Nativity Fast, they select a charity or local school to support with their collected funds, reports the OCA Diocese of Chicago and the Midwest.

This year, the Church School children chose to support the Shop with a Cop program run by the Maple Heights Police Department, which serves underprivileged children by pairing them with police officers who take them shopping for gifts and needed items.

The Church School donated its funds to sponsor one child in the program.
