His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, together with other heads of Churches in the Holy Land, has issued an appeal to Israeli authorities requesting permits for children from Gaza diagnosed with leukemia to receive treatment at Augusta Victoria Hospital on the Mount of Olives.
In a statement dated December 17, the ecclesiastical leaders state that Augusta Victoria Hospital is prepared to arrange transportation, full care, and specialized treatment for young cancer patients, who would be returned to their homes in Gaza following their treatment.
Pat. Theophilos and the other church heads emphasize that the necessary cancer treatment is not available in Gaza, and that Augusta Victoria Hospital would bear all costs associated with the children’s care, placing no financial burden on the government.
The appeal was made on humanitarian grounds, with the church leaders urging that permits be granted as quickly as possible, noting that swift treatment delivery is essential for positive medical outcomes.
Augusta Victoria Hospital has facilities to provide the specialized medical care these children require for their recovery.
