Holy Resurrection Monastery in Temecula, California, is seeking donations to complete restoration work on its chapel. The monastery has launched a fundraising campaign with a goal of $55,000 and has currently reached 10% of that target.
The monastery writes: “Help us restore the monastery chapel, so we can provide a truly sacred space where daily prayers can rise for the life of the world, our state of California, and for the glory of God.”
Holy Resurrection Monastery is a men’s monastic community of the Orthodox Church in America’s Romanian Episcopate. It was founded in 2014 when Abbot Dionisie (Rodila) was seeking to establish a new monastic community in California after a monastery in Detroit closed.
As a cenobitic monastic community, the community maintains a daily rhythm marked by the hours of prayer, the reading of Scripture, and hospitality to pilgrims.
According to its mission statement, Holy Resurrection Monastery exists for the purpose of glorifying the Risen Christ through a life of ceaseless prayer and ascetic labor. Rooted in the Orthodox Christian tradition and guided by the Holy Church Fathers, the community seeks to cultivate a life of repentance, silence, and spiritual discipline.
The monastery’s vision is to serve as a beacon of Orthodox monasticism in the Western United States and abroad, functioning as a place where those seeking an encounter with the peace of Christ can pray through liturgical worship and the practice of repentance. The community aims to preserve and pass on the fullness of the Orthodox Christian faith and serve as a spiritual refuge for all who seek God.
Donations can be made online and can be earmarked specifically for the chapel restoration.
