Last weekend was momentous for St. Anthony the Great Orthodox Church in Bozeman, Montana.
The Orthodox Church in America parish celebrated 10 Baptisms and Chrismations on Saturday, and enrolled another 15 people in the catechumenate on Sunday, the parish reports.
The parish bulletin for the week of February 14–22 lists 40 catechumens altogether.

“It’s blessedly crowded, and we are ready for our new temple.”
St. Anthony the Great Orthodox Church dates back to the 1990s. OCA Priests served the area for over five years before the community was formally recognized as a mission in 1999, prior to which, local faithful had to travel one to two hours to Billings or Butte for services.
The parish was served by Fr. Peter Tobias from 2001 to 2012, followed briefly by Fr. Damian Kuolt, and since June 2013 has been led by Fr. David Morrison. As the mission grew, parishioners purchased land west of Bozeman and built their first worship space in 2014, and in 2017 the community graduated from mission status to become a full parish. St. Anthony’s is composed largely of converts, many of whom first encountered Orthodox Christianity there.
Construction of a new church with a capacity of 350 people began in 2024. It is planned to complete the structure and begin interior plaster work this spring.
