Moses the Black, the latest film from director Yelena Popovic, inspired by the great 4th-century ascetic, will be available on digital platforms globally later this month.

According to the Union of Orthodox Journalists, the film will be available on Apple TV/iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and YouTube Movies in the U.S. and dozens of other countries starting March 13.

Moses the Black follows a Chicago gang leader named Malik, played by Omar Epps, whose story draws inspiration from the 4th-century saint who transformed from a life of violence to become one of the early African saints of Christianity and a prominent figure among the Desert Fathers. The film explores themes of crime and redemption through a contemporary setting that parallels the historical saint’s journey from violence to radical mercy.

Popovic is also known for the award-winning film Man of God, about the great wonderworker and holy hierarch St. Nektarios of Aegina.
