Fr. Kyril, long-time monk of St. Tikhon’s Monastery, reposes in the Lord

Fr. Kyril (Yefimov), a long-time monk of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk Monastery in northeastern Pennsylvania, reposed in the Lord on the feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, reports the Orthodox Church in America.

He was 79 years old.

His funeral will be held at St. Tikhon’s on Thursday, March 5, at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the monastery in Fr. Kyril’s memory to help offset funeral expenses.

Fr. Kyril was born in Russia in 1946. He immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1990s and joined St. Tikhon’s Monastery in 1997.

He was tonsured into the small schema by His Beatitude Metropolitan Herman in 2003. As a semi-hermitic monk, Fr. Kyril spent many years as the monastery groundskeeper and beekeeper and was also a talented cook.

He suffered from cancer several times over the years and reposed following a recurrence of kidney cancer.
