Orthodox Christians for Life is coordinating the 6th annual National Orthodox Baby Shower, a diaper/baby item drive, coinciding with the feast of the Annunciation on March 25 and continuing through April.

An email announcement explains the motivation for the event:

As we approach the Annunciation and meditate on the greatest “unexpected pregnancy” of all time, let us also remember those women whose circumstances leave them feeling terrified of pregnancy—feeling that abortion is their best (or only) option.

How can we come alongside these women and imbue them with the strength and confidence. needed to protect and carry their children until birth?

One of the most practical ways of doing so is by offering material support. And dozens of Orthodox churches around the country are coming together this spring to throw the biggest baby shower of all time: The National Orthodox Baby Shower!

A record 100 parishes from 8 jurisdictions participated in the National Orthodox Baby Shower last year, collecting 75,000 diapers, 25,000 packages of wipes, $20,000 in monetary gifts, 4,200 baby clothes and shoes, 3,000 other baby items, including cribs, car seats, strollers, formula, and more.

After collecting the items, parishes then donate them to their local pregnancy resource center.
