Seven monastic tonsures at Jordanville in final week of Great Lent

Several men took monastic vows last night at Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York, the spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

The rite was led by monastery abbot His Grace Bishop Luke of Syracuse.

According to a post in the social media group “I Love Jordanville,” there were seven monastic tonsures following the evening Compline service.

Three novices were tonsured as riassaphore monks:

● Christos

● Chad

● Dimitri

And four riassaphore monks were tonsured as stavrophore monks:

● Fr. Nicholas, receiving the name Fr. Hilarion

● Fr. Seraphim, receiving the name Fr. Theophan

● Fr. Peter, receiving the name Fr. Patrick

● Fr. Vladimir, receiving the name Fr. Seraphim

The Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville installed a new cathedral dome yesterday. Under Candidate Status, Holy Trinity will work toward permanent accreditation over the next three to five years while meeting additional goals set by the Commission.
