Seven monastic tonsures at Jordanville in final week of Great Lent

Several men took monastic vows last night at Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York, the spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.

The rite was led by monastery abbot His Grace Bishop Luke of Syracuse.

According to a post in the social media group “I Love Jordanville,” there were seven monastic tonsures following the evening Compline service.

Three novices were tonsured as riassaphore monks:

Christos

Chad

Dimitri

And four riassaphore monks were tonsured as stavrophore monks:

Fr. Nicholas, receiving the name Fr. Hilarion

Fr. Seraphim, receiving the name Fr. Theophan

Fr. Peter, receiving the name Fr. Patrick

Fr. Vladimir, receiving the name Fr. Seraphim
