Another mass Baptism took place this past weekend, on the feast of Pentecost, as has been happening regularly across America.
St. Jacob Orthodox Church (OCA) in Bend, Oregon, writes: “A joyous feast of Pentecost here in central Oregon with many joining the Church through Holy Baptism.”
Based on pictures from the event, at least ten people—adults and children—were received into the Church through Holy Baptism.
St. Jacob Orthodox Church, served by Fr. Mark Solomon and Fr. Damian Kuolt, describes itself as “a community of believers from all walks of life seeking salvation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Founded in 2003 with a handful of Orthodox Christians, the parish was initially served by visiting priests who came from time to time to lead the Divine Services. It has since grown into a more substantial parish, with an assigned priest and regular services.
The parish takes its name from St. Jacob of Alaska and shares his missionary spirit. In the words of the parish: “Like our patron saint, St. Jacob of Alaska, our parish seeks to bring the ancient Christian faith to a new place and to establish it, that it may be a hospital for the sick, a safe haven for the storm-tossed, and a garden of delight for those seeking communion with God.”
Yesterday, OrthoChristian reported on the reception of eight people into the Church on Pentecost at a parish on Long Island.
