His Eminence Metropolitan Theodosy of Cherkasy, one of the many persecuted hierarchs of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was urgently hospitalized yesterday.

The Telegram channel Cherkasy Pilgrim reported:

We ask for your prayers! We’ve learned that Metropolitan Theodosy has been hospitalized. According to the diocese, Vladyka was hospitalized on an urgent referral from cardiologists. We pray to the Lord that He may strengthen the health of our dear Vladyka!

Met. Theodosy has spent years under house arrest on fabricated charges, and his diocese has become a prime target for violent church seizures.

The health of many Ukrainian Orthodox Church hierarchs has suffered greatly under the pressure of state persecution, including Met. Theodosy, who suffered a heart attack in July 2024.

Moreover, there has been more than one attempt on his life. During the violent seizure of the Archangel Michael Cathedral in Cherkasy in October 2024, His Eminence was struck violently on the head with a baseball bat, though his episcopal klobuk softened the blow.

His Eminence then spent the entire month of December in the hospital after he was poisoned.
