The Sumy Diocese of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church concluded the 15th annual charitable campaign Bright Deeds for a Bright Day! on June 23, donating medical equipment and medicines valued at 1,250,000 hryvnias (approximately $30,200) to the oncohematology ward of the Sumy Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital.

Funds were raised through donations from clergy, parishioners, and members of the public. Among the items purchased was an electroneuromyograph Modus EMG-3, costing 658,350 hryvnias (approximately $15,900), which will allow physicians to detect complications related to nervous system damage during anti-tumor therapy and to monitor young patients during treatment and rehabilitation, reports the Information-Education Department of the UOC.

The remaining funds were used to procure antibacterial and antiviral medications, drugs supporting hematopoiesis, infusion therapy, blood coagulation correction, and other medicines required for comprehensive treatment.

His Eminence Metropolitan Evlogy of Sumy met with Liana Nikitenko, head of the hospital’s oncohematology ward, at the diocesan administration office. Archimandrite Anastasy (Panov), secretary of the diocese, also attended the meeting. Nikitenko expressed gratitude to Met. Evlogy, the clergy, and all donors for their longstanding support of the ward.

Met. Evlogy thanked all participants in the campaign, noting that it has been carried out for 15 years through the generosity of donors willing to serve their neighbors.
