Construction is underway on Moscow’s first church dedicated to St. Paisios the Athonite, one of the most beloved saints throughout the Orthodox world today, with churches dedicated to his memory having appeared across Orthodox countries in recent years.
Four domes with crosses are set to be installed on the church by the end of October 2026 and the building is expected to be put into operation in 2028, reports Foma.
Construction of the church, designed to accommodate 500 people, began in February 2023. The entire complex will include the church itself, a parish house, a Sunday school, a bell tower, and facilities for social activities.

The architectural project’s authors drew on the traditions of early Christian architecture, combining features of pre-Mongol Rus’ with elements of Serbian and Macedonian architecture.
Parish life at the site of the future stone church began in 2016. The parish is today actively engaged in charitable activities.
The future church is located near a children’s art school and a maternity hospital. According to parish rector Fr. Evgeny Tolmachev, expectant parents already come to the temporary church to pray for a safe birth, and young families return there for the Baptism of their children after being discharged from the maternity hospital.
