Five years ago, our journey began with something very simple—an empty box waiting to be filled with clothing for orphaned children in Rwanda. What started as a small act of love quickly became something much greater as we witnessed the overwhelming needs of the children God placed in our path.
Today, Tabitha’s Road Rwanda is a registered Arizona nonprofit dedicated to serving orphaned and impoverished children in Rwanda, Uganda, and neighboring countries. Our mission is to share Christ’s love by providing not only food, clothing, education, and medical care, but also hope, dignity, and the knowledge that every child is deeply loved by God.
Over the years, we have been blessed to help build homes for struggling families, provide livestock to create sustainable sources of income, pay school tuition and medical expenses, assist families during times of tragedy, and support the construction and iconography of an Orthodox church in Rwambabuzi, Rwanda. One of our greatest blessings has been witnessing more than 20 children receive Holy Baptism.
Today, much of our work is centered on St. Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Monastery Orphanage in Uganda. There, Abbess Mother Thavoria and the sisterhood lovingly care for 70 beautiful children who have found not only shelter and nourishment, but a true family rooted in the Orthodox faith. Their days are filled with prayer, learning, laughter, and the loving care every child deserves.
Through our “Sponsor an Orphan” program, 30 children have been matched with compassionate sponsors who faithfully provide monthly support for food, clothing, education, and other daily needs. These sponsorships have also created beautiful friendships through letters, photographs, and videos, reminding each child that someone across the world is praying for them and cheering them on.
One story especially close to our hearts is that of little Ephraim, a deaf and physically disabled boy who has lived at the monastery since infancy. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of his sponsor, Ephraim is now attending a specialized school for deaf children in Kampala. Watching him grow, learn, and flourish has been a beautiful reminder of how one act of kindness can truly change a life.
We also continue to invest in projects that will help the orphanage become self-sustaining. A dairy cow and several goats have already been donated, and our next goal is to establish a flock of 1,000 laying hens. These will provide nutritious food for the children while creating income to support the orphanage and assist neighboring families.
Another exciting milestone is the construction of St. Raphael and Ephraim of Arizona Primary School in Uganda. Once completed, the school will welcome up to 1,000 students from kindergarten through eighth grade, providing quality education, modern classrooms, a library, dormitories, and opportunities that will shape generations to come.
Our motto is simple:
“Give a Dollar for an Orphan.”
We believe that no gift is too small when it is offered with love. Every donation helps provide meals, clothing, education, medical care, and, most importantly, the opportunity for these children to grow surrounded by faith, compassion, and hope.
How You Can Help
We humbly ask for your prayers for the children, the sisters who care for them, and this growing mission. If you feel called to help, donations may be made via Zelle at tabitharoad@gmail.com.
Every contribution, regardless of the amount, goes directly toward caring for the children and supporting the ministries of Tabitha’s Road Rwanda.
Thank you for opening your hearts to these precious children. Your kindness reminds them that they are not forgotten and that Christ’s love reaches them through the generosity of His people.
Glory be to God for all things!
