Jamaican mission celebrates mass Baptism (+VIDEO)

The Jamaican Orthodox Mission celebrated a blessed event this weekend with the illumination of several new Orthodox Christians.

Seven young men and women were baptized into Christ and chrismated at St. Moses the Black Orthodox Church (ROCOR) in Falmouth, Trelawny, on Saturday, August 29. The Sacraments were celebrated by Hieromonk Constantine (Myers), who writes on social media:

We thank God for His grace and for the work of His hands, through the power of the Holy Spirit, in the addition of seven (7) newly baptized members to the Jamaican Orthodox Mission.

Glory to God for all things.

ROCOR’s Jamaican Mission currently has two parishes: St. Timothy the Apostle Orthodox Church in Kingston, and St. Moses the Black Orthodox Church in Falmouth.

The journey has just begun. Yesterday I was called “Marlon” but today I am called “Moses” after my Patron Saint Moses the Black/Ethiopian. I’m no Saint. I’m a sinner. My Christian walk over the years was never perfect and I’m not ashamed for saying that. In fact, looking back and seeing where I’m coming from humbles me.
