The Order of AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) has organized $250,000 in scholarships for seminarians at the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America’s Hellenic College and Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, marking the Feast of the Elevation of the Holy Cross with a celebration of faith and philanthropy.
AHEPA Supreme Secretary Themistocles Frangos attended the event on behalf of Supreme President E. Chris Kaitson, addressing the clergy and highlighting the significance of the school, reports the Orthodox Observer.
The scholarships come through the AHEPA Educational Foundation, funded by contributions raised by the Supreme President along with the John George Tsitsos Scholarship Fund, an endowment that helps students of Hellenic descent pursue their education.
The AHEPA Educational Foundation serves as the organization’s main channel for philanthropic support of education, granting funds each year to ease the financial burden students face.
“We look forward to continuing the incredible work of this program which actively builds bridges between AHEPA and the clergy who serve as pillars in our Hellenic communities. In this regard, our partnership with Holy Cross is truly one-of-a-kind, allowing us to support our faith, our culture and our future all through the ‘E’ in AHEPA,” Supreme President Kaitson said.
