Prizren and other towns in southern and central Kosovo and Metohija are not safe for the return of Serbs yet, said the head of the Eparchy of Raska and Prizren within the Serbian Orthodox Church, Bishop Teodosije, on a visit to the partly renovated Church of St Saviour in Prizren.

Only ten of all the Serb houses destroyed by Kosovo Albanian extremists after the arrival of international forces have been renovated so far, he said, assessing safety in Prizren as unsatisfactory.

Before the war conflicts, 8,000 Serbs lived in Prizren, whereas now only 20 of them have remained, he emphasized.

The most important thing for returnees is safety, jobs and opportunities of taking part in the local administration, but the provisional authorities in Pristina have not created conditions for that, said the bishop.

He paid a visit to Prizren in the company of German and French diplomatic representatives in Kosovo, who agreed on the necessity of enabling the return of Serbs and preserving their spiritual and cultural heritage in Kosmet.
