Public prosecutor's office of the Supreme court of Greece: Archimandrite Ephraim of Vatopedi not guilty

Athens, November 7, 2013

The public prosecutor's office of the Supreme court of Greece has filed an appeal against the ruling № 2000/2013 of the Court of appeal on bringing before the trial of the defendants of the Vatopedi Monastery's case.

Among the persons involved in the case are Abbot of the Vatopedi Monastery Archimandrite Ephraim and Monk Arsenios, reports Agionoros.ru.

The report of the public prosecutor's office places special emphasis on the earlier rulings acquitting the defendants. Moreover, the text of the appeal contains a number of arguments from which it appears that the charges against Abbot Ephraim, Monk Arsenios and other persons involved in the case are groundless.

The Orthodox information portal Romphea notes that the appeal of the public prosecutor's office indicates that the charges against the Vatopedi Monastery were artificially exaggerated.
