15 Gypsy children baptized on Greek island of Evia

A mass Baptism celebration for Gypsy children has taken place for the second time in less than a month in Greece.

40 children were united to Christ in His holy Orthodox Church in Achaea on June 27, and now another 15 children have received the holy Mystery in the town of Aliveri on the Greek island of Evia, reports Romfea.

The Baptisms were celebrated within the framework of the Apostle Thaddeus of the local parish, which focuses on the education and socialization of Gypsy children in the region.

His Eminence Metropolitan Ignatius (Georgakopoulos) of Demetrias at the local Church of St. Andrew.

A key role in preparing the children for holy Baptism was played by parish rector Fr. Ioann Anastasiou and also by Archimandrite Maximos (Papaionnou) from the local diocese.
