Miracles of Sts. Sergius of Radonezh and Seraphim of Sarov in Pakistan

St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Mission In Pakistan

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, June 10, 2018 was a milestone for the Russian Orthodox Church in Pakistan, as many faithful shared the testimony of their strong faith and spiritual communion with the saints of the Russian land, Eastern Orthodox Church and Church Fathers. The faithful shared their stories of the miracles of Sts. Sergius of Radonezh and Seraphim of Sarov in their lives that were wrought through their powerful intersession and prayers, and how they have experienced peace and comfort in their lives, the sick have recovered from illnesses, and the jobless have found jobs. Among these are many Orthodox families, three Protestant families and one Catholic lady.

It was a very hot day, as summer in Pakistan is very severe, but I gladly share that faithful came to attend the Divine Liturgy with full zeal and zest and spiritual devotion. We do not have enough space for the large gatherings, so we offer Divine Liturgy in tents on specific days and feasts. The faithful remained steadfast in their faith even in the scorching heat of summer when the temperature was about 116 degrees Fahrenheit. They chanted loudly and cheerfully and praised the Lord.

Testimonies to the miracles of our blessed Fathers Sergius of Radonezh and Seraphim of Sarov

A Catholic lady, Sobia Adeline, was blessed with a baby boy after constantly praying before the holy icon of St. Seraphim of Sarov given to her by her mother, as her mother and one brother are Orthodox. Her mother told her to keep the icon and kiss it to show reverence while praying. She had been infertile for the past six years. She is greatly moved by this miracle, is now attending our catechism classes, and will soon embrace holy Orthodoxy along with her husband. The baby boy was baptized and chrismated, and named after the great St. Seraphim.

Protestant Families

One Protestant family was terribly distressed by witchcraft and evil spirits in their home, and was greatly frightened and shattered. The whole family has experienced psychological and emotional disturbances. I visited the family and blessed them by sprinkling holy water, censed the home, and gave them icons of the Mother of God, St. Matrona of Moscow, and St. Sergius of Radonezh. I continued to visit the family, prayed for them and motivated them to seek help from the Mother of God and the holy saints. According to the testimony they shared they had seen a vision of the Mother of God and St. Sergius of Radonezh, and this family received peace and comfort after six months of regular prayer before the icon of the Mother of God and Sts. Sergius and Matrona of Moscow.

Two other Protestant families received physical relief from their sickness and pain through the prayers of St. Seraphim Sarov.

Testimonies of Orthodox Families:

The following people from our congregation: Alexander Samuel, Razia Sophia, Azar Gills and Nina, Amjad John and his wife Noshi Catherine, Peter, Martha, Aaron Nadeem and Ruth, Lewis Paul, Jamila Elizabeth and Nasreen Anna recovered from their sickness, and found jobs by praying to St. Sergius and St. Seraphim of Sarov. They recovered from their sickness, pain and family problems through the powerful intercession of these holy saints. Their family members shared that they are receiving peace, comfort and happiness in their lives through their constant prayers to the saints.

Martha shared that she puts fresh flowers in front of the icon of St. Sergius of Radonezh daily to venerate him and has built a strong bond of spiritual association and trust with him. She prays for a peaceful and happy life. Today she is happy in her family and still prays for guidance and peace of mind.

Alexander Samuel venerates the icon of St. Seraphim of Sarov by praying daily and asking for a healthy and prosperous life. He shared that his house seems empty without this icon of St. Seraphim and he cannot imagine a single day of his life without praying to him.

Church Teaching and the veneration of the holy saints in the Orthodox Church:

We have been preaching here in Pakistan about the Church Fathers and the holy saints and pious monks of the Russian and other Eastern Orthodox lands for the past six years. We always advise our families to seek help from them for their spiritual and physical well being and for help in different domestic or financial problems. This has strengthened their faith, and they have shared the miracles of these saints in full confidence.

St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Mission in Pakistan is grateful to His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion for his blessings, prayers, passionate support and encouragement. With the help and intercessions of the Most Holy Theotokos, the holy saints, angels and archangels, the congregation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Pakistan is strengthened in faith and gains an enhanced understanding of the sacred traditions of the mother Church. Although we are passing through a very hard time with significantly decreased financial resources, we are nevertheless moving ahead with patience under the Divine protection of our Heavenly Father.
