Schismatics seized Holy Transfiguration Cathedral in Vinnitsa this morning as their schismatic bishops were gathering in Kiev for the so-called “unification council,” whereby Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople intends to create a parallel, nationalist church structure in the ancient Orthodox land of Ukraine.

As sources reported to the Kiev-based Union of Orthodox Journalists, about 20 young men of athletic build arrived at the cathedral after the morning services today and seized the keys to all the buildings of the complex from the guard on duty.

Note that the ruling hierarch of Vinnitsa, His Eminence Metropolitan Simeon is reportedly one of only two bishops from the canonical Church who arrived for Constantinople’s “unification council,” despite the fact that he had previously said he would abide by the decisions of the Bishops’ Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of November 13 that deemed the entire process towards autocephaly initiated by Constantinople as canonically invalid and predatory.

Met. Simeon was the only bishop of the 83 present at the session who did not agree with its decisions, and he went to meet with President Petro Poroshenko, who had tried to lure the bishops away from their session, later that evening.

When his flock heard the news and began to accuse him of sympathizing with the Ukrainian schismatics, he declared that he would abide by the resolutions of the November 13 Council session.
