Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, the architect of today’s “unification council” that aims to unite two schismatic Ukrainian groups into a new church, has reportedly arrived in Kiev for the “council.” RIA-Novosti reports that he arrived with reference to the Ukrainian television station UA: Pershii.

The Ukrainian site Vesti is also reporting that he arrived, with reference to media information. Meanwhile, the Greek agency Romfea is reporting that Pat. Bartholomew is not traveling to Kiev.

It was previously stated several times that Pat. Bartholomew would not attend the “council.”

The gathered hierarchs of the schismatic “Kiev Patriarchate” and the schismatic “Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church” plus two metropolitans from the canonical Ukrainian Church aim to adopt the statutes for the new church and to elect its primate.
