Stamps in honor of Holy Friday, Pascha issued in Romania

Romfilatelia, the institution designated to issue Romanian postage stamps, has issued a new set of stamps in honor of the Lord’s Crucifixion on Holy Friday and His Bright Resurrection on Pascha.

The set consists of two stamps each with a face value of about $.35 (1.50 lei) each, and a souvenier sheet with a face value of $6.75 (28.50 lei).

The stamps reproduce the works of St. Mitrophan of Constantinople (306-314) and St. Gregory of Sinai (1255-1346), and images found in the hierarchical service book of Metropolitan Stephen of Wallachia (17th century), housed at the Library of the Romanian Academy.

The cover of the set also features images of the Last Supper, the Myrrh-bearing Women at the tomb, the Holy Trinity, and the Second Coming of Christ from Met. Stephen’s service book.

Romfilatelia also issued commemorate stamps for the feast of the Nativity, and has issued stamps in honor of Pascha before.

In 2016, a set of stamps was issued dedicated to the history of the development of Christianity in Moldova.
