Fr. Marius Gabriel Bărăscu died in a tragic car accident on August 7, the day before his 35th birthday. He leaves behind his wife Preoteasă Petronela, and four children: Anastasia, 9, Irina, 7, Sofiana, 4, and Nicolae, 18 months.

As OrthoChristian has reported, the Archdiocese of Bucharest announced that it was providing $1,184 (5,000 lei) to the family, and the Archdiocese of Roman and Bacău has initiated the process of purchasing a home in Bacău for the family. Parishes and other organizations are also provided food and clothing and cover the cost of amenities.

The children of the parish summer school made various icons, crosses, and decorative objects that were then exhibited in the church on the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos. The faithful purchased the items by making a donation to Fr. Marius’ family.

Thanks to the children’s love and hard work, nearly $2,000 (8,500 lei) were transferred to Preoteasă Petronela on Friday.

A GoFundMe fundraiser was also launched by Fr. Marius’ sister-in-law to support the family in this time of crisis. Visit the fundraiser and support the family here.

May Fr. Marius’ memory be eternal!
