Greek Byzantine Workshop of Chanting Music Held in Saint Petersburg

Professor of Byzantine music A. Paivanas held an inspirational singing workshop of Orthodox Music and Chanting in Saint Petersburg.

The aim of the workshop was to give an opportunity to students of the Orthodox Music School of Saint Petersburg to familiarize themselves with Byzantine chanting music, as the last was well- known only by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

This workshop lasted 20 days and was supported by the Russian government. Many professors, musicians and distinguished personalities from Europe and the former Soviet Union were invited to deliver lectures and hold workshops.

Professor A. Paivanas wrote a book for the workshop in English and Russian for this special occasion which was given to the students, accompanied by audiovisual material.
