Head of the Orthodox Church of Czech Lands and Slovakia retires

On April 12, 2013, the Patriarchate of Moscow received an official message about the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Czech Lands and Slovakia that had taken place on that day, reports Patriarchia.ru.

It has been reported that at the meeting his Grace Archbishop of Prague, Metropolitan Christopher of Czech Lands and Slovakia made a request to retire from his post. The request was accepted.

His Grace has been given the title, Honorary Archbishop of Prague and Metropolitan of Czech Lands and Slovakia, with the resolution of his further residence in the Monastery of Transfiguration of the Lord in Teshovo.

Archbishop Simeon of Olomouc and Brno, the senior Hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Czech Lands and Slovakia, has been elected the locum tenens of the Metropolitanate.
