According to an announcement of the Archdiocese of America “just when publications in the Turkish press and other media were released, referring to the assassination plan of His Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America sent a letter to the President Barack Obama, urging him to exert influence from his position to ensure the security of His Holiness”.
“We are not afraid, we believe in God who protects us and to the authorities that take the necessary protection measures,” was the statement from the office of the Patriarch about the assassination plot report.
