Metropolia of Kerkyra transfers 36,000 Euros to families with many children

Greece, December 27, 2013

Following a good, well-established tradition, the Metropolis of Kerkyra of the Church of Greece is materially supporting the most needy large families, reports Agionoros.ru with the reference to Romphea.

At a special ceremony in the Church complex of St. Spyridon of Tremithus, Metropolitan Nectarios of Kerkyra announced that aid to families with many children would be given throughout the year 2014. Each family will receive 1800 Euros, and 36,000 Euros will be allocated for charity needs in total.

According to the hierarch, the church will not turn away from the problems of its flock and will do all its best to support its fellow citizens faced with problems caused by the economic crisis. Its financial opportunities are limited, but "faith in Christ is inseparably linked with active help to your neighbors as well. The church will do its duty".

It should be noted that the charitable activity of the Metropolis of Kerkyra does not confine itself to giving help to families with many children. Two social shops for the needy and three free dining-halls work in this diocese.
