Mayor of Barcelona promises to help in building Orthodox church there

Moscow, July 2, 2014

The Russian Consulate and the Annunciation community of the Corsun Diocese asked Barcelona mayor Xavier Trias to allot a piece of land for building a church.

"Head of the municipality promised to help in the question and suggested to locate a new church in one of the two young and developing districts of the city," the Communication Service of the Synodal Department for External Church Relations reports on its website on Wednesday.

This question was also discussed at a meeting in the Annunciation Church held by Trias, Russian General Consul in Barcelona Yury Klimenko and church rector Hegumen Seraphim (Pavlov).

The Annunciation church complex is used not only for celebrating divine services, there are also lessons of the Sunday school, lessons of the Catalan language, a library and canteen. The church iconostasis has an icon of St. Eulalia - holy protector of Barcelona.
