Advanced Courses for newly-consecrated bishops begins by liturgy at the Church of Christ the Saviour

On March 22, 2015, the 4th Sunday of Lent, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the cathedral Church of Christ the Saviour by Metropolitan Varsonofy of St Petersburg and Ladoga assisted by bishops who have come to Moscow for the 4th Advanced Courses conducted by the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies (CMI).

There were 23 newly-consecrated bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church. After the liturgy, Metropolitan Varsonofy greeted them, pointing to the importance of the bishops’ courses held by the Russian Orthodox Church’s post-graduate school.

The advanced courses program for the ROC bishops to be held from March 23 to April 1 is planned to include a meeting of the students with Patriarch Kirill and addresses of Metropolitans Juvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna, Varsonofy of St Petersburg and Ladoga, Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Merkury of Rostov and Novocherkassk, George of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, as well as heads of synodal departments, state officials and specialists from the Russian Academy of Public Service.
