We have grown accustomed to wickedness. We almost feel good when these habits increase. A good many of us facilitate this process. However, such people aren’t among the cross-bearers.

The ladder, by which Jesus Christ ascended up to the Cross, is our sins. Our sins are the cause of the Cross. The nails with which He was affixed to the Cross are our sins again. The thorns, from which His crown was woven are all due to our sins!

Today with God’s help I will continue yesterday’s unfinished homily on the way of the cross that awaits the disciples and followers of Christ during the days of Passion Week.

On the path of our cross, the difficulty is eased by the soul’s yearning for God. Only this way can we tear up the tares from our souls and leave space in them for grace.

Events had given a clear lesson: that we should be faithful in friendship, and not abandon someone in troubles and afflictions. Only in times of troubles can we truly discern dignity, friendship, and love. These great human bonds are illuminated by this Gospel event.
The time of Great Lent is becoming shorter for Christians day by day. Day follows day, bringing us ever closer to the festive weeks of Christ’s Resurrection. The joy of anticipation kindles our feelings, while at the same time, sadness engulfs our soul as the conscience informs the heart that we have not spent the time of the fast as befits a true Christian.
