Archbishop John (Shahovskoy)
Created by God, redeemed by Christ the Savior, the person does not belong to himself but to God. The sin is not in the fact of physical burning of the body but in the false direction of the person’s will to rule over God’s property, which his body is.
But despite all of the amazing events in his long and fruitful life, St. David valued above all “the little things”. When he was departing this life at more than 100 years of age, the monastery in which he lay became filled with angels. His last words were, “Gwnewch y pethau bychain mewn bywyd,” which means, “Do the little things in life.”

All of the teachings of the Gospels are directed toward understanding of that very exalted, higher, meaning of life, love toward God and service to the Kingdom of love among men.
Many people believe that to live according to the faith and to fulfill the will of God is very difficult. Actually—it's very easy. One needs only attend to details, to trifles, and try to avoid evil in the slightest and most trivial things. This is the simplest and surest way to enter the world of the spirit and draw near to God. A man often thinks that the Creator demands great things of him, that the Gospel insists on complete self-sacrifice, the abolition of one's personhood, etc., as a condition of faith.
