Today the tongue, most tireless in prayer, which so many times conversed with angels, named the Son of God and revealed ineffable mysteries, has stopped speaking.
And if our love for another has a measure—“as thyself,” then love for God is immeasurable—“with all our heart, with all our strength,” because God’s own love is boundless.
The Son of God becomes Man for the sake of man and reveals Himself as an Infant under the Law, in order to shame man, who transgresses the Law.
Today the Lawgiver becomes the fulfiller of the Law, to teach us perfect obedience; the Son of God becomes man for the sake of man and manifests Himself as an Infant under the Law, to shame man who transgresses the Law.

Those repenting of their sins, remembering death, desiring by the path of Confession to lay a beginning of a new life—all of you come, venture, proceed: our Savior loves you. Come, repent, forgive one another, confess, rejoice: The Mother of God awaits you, whose birth we now celebrate. Come, cast aside the old, adorn yourself in new clothes: The saints in Heaven await you, the Church awaits, priests wait for you to come to them for help—just come.

Come to us again, O Jesus—do not listen to Peter! Come down from Tabor and come to our homes, into our hearts! Come here, where we are suffering and laboring for our daily bread! Come here, where we are crucified by people, demons, and passions! If Peter does not want to come down, leave him on the mount and come to us, to our hearts!

A new miracle has occurred! Now, in a brief span of time the cave has been replaced with thousands upon thousands of churches large and magnificent, adorning all corners of the world. The poor manger has turned into a multitude of divine altars. The Infant in swaddling bands awaits us now in the form of the Holy Mysteries.
