Relics of St. Nicholas transferred from Moscow to St. Petersburg (VIDEO)

A solemn farewell to the specially-made ark with a piece of the relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was held at Moscow’s Christ the Savior Cathedral yesterday. The relic has arrived in St. Petersburg, where it will remain in St. Alexander Nevsky Lavra until July 28.

The cathedral, which can hold 10,000 believers, was filled to capacity with Orthodox faithful from around Russia, and from neighboring countries where the faithful also have a great love and respect for the great Myra hierarch. The relic is being brought to mark the 100th anniversary of the tragic events surrounding the 1917 Russian revolution which eventually led to St. Elizabeth’s martyrdom, and that of millions more, including the Royal Family.
