San Francisco, November 28, 2017
After a long battle with illness, Schema-Archdeacon Ambrose (Taratuchin), of the Holy Virgin Cathedral “Joy of All Who Sorrow,” reposed in the Lord Sunday morning, the cathedral’s website reports.
The official site of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia says of Fr. Ambrose: “The long-time cleric of the Cathedral of the Mother of God “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in San Francisco, CA, adorned its divine services for many years not only with his tenor voice and solemn practice of services with his piety, prayerfulness and humility. He was esteemed by all for his kindness, his love for the Church, devotion to his service, meekness and sense of humor.”
The Office Following the Parting of the Soul From the Body was celebrated at 7:30 PM Sunday night. Fr. Ambrose’s remains will be brought to the San Francisco cathedral today at 4:00 PM, with a farewell panikhida being served at 7:30. His body will then be taken to Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY for a monastic funeral and burial at 1:00 PM on Friday.
