8,000 people traveled to the Pskov Caves Monastery on its patronal feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God.
On August 27, the monastery’s main sacred item, the wonderworking icon of the Dormition of the Mother of God, was, according to tradition, carried in procession from the Dormition Church to St. Michael’s Cathedral, where Metropolitan Tikhon of Pskov and Porkhov led the All-Night Vigil.
On the day of the feast itself, Vladyka Tikhon, the abbot of Pskov Caves Monastery, celebrated the Divine Liturgy with the concelebration of the monastery brethren. In addition to the numerous pilgrims, the abbesses and sisterhoods of the monasteries of the Pskov Diocese, as well as Mikhail Vedernikov, the acting governor of the Pskov Province, attended the Divine Liturgy.
