Detroit, Michiagan, March 22, 2019
Detroit’s Own Orthodox Radio (DOOR), a media ministry of The Council of Orthodox Christian Churches of Metropolitan Detroit (COCC), will mark its 200th program this coming Sunday, March 24.
Airing every Sunday at 4:00 PM on WNZK 690AM radio, DOOR promotes the Orthodox Christian Faith, connects communities and faithful, educates on traditional and modern day issues, and entertains the listening public across the Metropolitan Detroit region, reaching even as far away as Cleveland, Ohio.
The show premiered on Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2015, and has continued to air every week since thanks to a staff of dedicated volunteers, especially the program’s host and main technical engineer Jim Badeen.
A distinguished list of clergy, academics, and other leaders from around the world featured in special interviews and regular segments offer significant educational and spiritual insights, while news, public service announcements and regular updates on the ministries of the COCC and their partner organizations help to inform and connect listeners with the local community.
The program also occasionally shares information on the work of organizations that are not specifically Orthodox Christian in nature, but are shared areas of concern in the community such as veterans, cancer awareness, the homeless, and more.
“We are truly blessed to be able to offer this ministry to our community,” said COCC President Olga Liss. “It is with gratitude to everyone who has listened, contributed, supported, and encouraged the production team over these past few years that we continue to produce what we feel is so needed and appreciated among the Orthodox faithful of our community.”
In addition to the on-air broadcast, a livestream broadcast can be accessed online anywhere in the world via the DOOR website – www.DOORradio.org – where every past episode can also be downloaded from the Podcast Archive.
