Archpriest Oleg Vlaev, the rector of St. George’s Church in Reni in the Odessa Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, has been struggling with a serious disease for several years.

In 2016, he was diagnosed with melanoma, and for two years was unsuccessfully treated at the Kiev National Cancer Institute, reports Pravoslavie.ru.

The last chance for Fr. Oleg was the Israeli Assuta clinic, where the leading specialists in melanoma work. Thanks to the readers of Pravoslavie.ru, he was able to begin treatment and his cancer went into remission for a while.

Fr. Oleg’s story was told in two articles for Pravoslavie.ru (in Russian): “The Quiet Priest from Reni,” and “I Learned by Experience That We Have to Value Every Minute.”

This month, it was found that the long-suffering priest’s cancer has metastasized and is in need of urgent treatment with expensive medicines. Fr. Oleg’s health and survival is once again in the hands of loving Orthodox Christians.

If you are able, please prayerfully help this suffering servant of God to cope with his serious illness:
