Moscow, November 26, 2019
For the first time in its history, the Patriarch of Alexandria and his representative in Moscow were not commemorated at the Alexandrian representative church in the Kitai Gorod section of Moscow on Sunday, November 10.
Since then, the work of the representation church has been temporarily suspended altogether, Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, Secretary of the Synodal Department for External Church Relations, told Interfax-Religion yesterday.
According to Fr. Igor, the Holy Synod, which will meet in Moscow at the end of December, is expected to make a final decision on the prospects for the work of the Alexandrian podvoriye.
These decisions come in the wake of Patriarch Theodoros of Alexandria’s sudden decision to commemorate Epiphany Dumenko and enter into communion with the Ukrainian schismatics on November 8.
