All of the Local Churches should have sent delegations to today’s fraternal gathering in Amman, Jordan, His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia believes, though there is hope for further dialogue.

“It’s a little sad that not all the Local Churches accepted the invitation of the Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem to meet and discuss the pressing issues and current problems in Church life, the internal life of the Orthodox Church,” His Beatitude said, as reports the Moscow Patriarchal press service’s Telegram channel “Church Today.”

“But, this is only the first session—we’ll see what the second will bring,” the Czech-Slovak primate added.

The Greek outlet Romfea reports the Metropolitan’s words slightly differently: “This is the first meeting, and we hope there will be more like this in the future so there will be dialogue.”

Only 6 of the Local Churches are represented at today’s gathering: Jerusalem, Moscow, Serbia, Romania, Poland, and Czech-Slovak.

The Russian Church’s delegation includes His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine.

It is sad, but sometimes refraining and doing nothing is the wisest choice... unless it's done because of lukewarmness.
