Gay Pride Month and the Kiev March of Equality 2020 have been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus and declared state of emergency and quarantine in the Kiev Province and the city of Kiev.

“The new date will be announced after the situation stabilizes and the official end of the quarantine,” the organizing committee said in a statement, reports the Ukrainian outlet Today.

Pride Month was scheduled to begin on May 17 and end with the March of Equality on June 21, with the motto, “It’s Good to Be Different Together.”

Organizers have promised a large number of educational, artistic, and entertainment events in the month leading up to the march.

The March for Equality has taken place for the past several years in Kiev. The Ukrainian Church, led by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine has spoken out strongly against such sinful spectacles. In 2018 he wrote:

The institution of the family, as the union of a man and a woman, was established and sanctified by God Himself. And today we, Orthodox Ukrainians, cannot silently watch as traditional family relationships are trampled upon and debased, and they try to impose not only foreign, but sinful worldviews upon us.

Gay Community News earlier reported that gay pride and LGBT events are being postponed throughout the world.
