To contribute towards the fight against the coronavirus epidemic, the Patriarchate of Constantinople has provided more than $99,600 in financial assistance to the governments of both Turkey and Greece.

In particular, $44,940 (300,000 Turkish lira) were provided to the Turkish government, and $54,693 (50,000 euros) to the Greek government to help the homeless, according to a statement from the Patriarchate published on Romfea.

“This gesture of the Mother Church is accompanied by her fervent prayers to the Physician of our souls and bodies that this great temptation may soon pass,” the message states.

The Jerusalem Patriarchate earlier donated $70,500 to the Jordanian Ministry of Health for the battle against the coronavirus.
