The Romanian Patriarchate has announced that the amount of aid offered by the Church to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic totaled $511,402 (2,278,396 lei) just in the one-week period of April 20-27.
That brings the total, including aid offered by all dioceses, since the beginning of the health crisis to $3,339,130 (14,876,474 lei), reports the Basilica News Agency.
The Patriarchate offers a wide variety of charitable assistance to those affected by the pandemic, especially to the elderly, poor, sick, disabled, and those temporarily in isolation and quarantine. Aid is offered at the diocesan, deanery, and parish level, showing the great generosity of the Romanian Orthodox hierarchs, clergy, and faithful.
In addition to spiritual guidance and counseling, the Church offers warm food to medical workers and those in need, donates medical equipment and prayer books, organizes blood drives, offers quarantine locations, and much more.
