Yesterday, May 14, Hieromonk Modest (Panchenko) of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra reposed in the Lord at the age of 45 from complications due to a coronavirus infection, reports the monastery website.

Fr. Modest is the fifth monastic of the Lavra to die from COVID-19.

The Lavra already lost Igumen Tikhon (Barsukov), Archimandrite Ilian (Plemenyuk), Archimandrite Lavrenty (Postnikov), and Hierodeacon Kallist (Kosulin) to the coronavirus in recent weeks.

May their memories be eternal!
