Photo: samepar.ru His Grace Bishop Seraphim (Glushakov), a retired hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, reposed in the Lord on Tuesday, June 9, at the age of 51, reports the Samara Diocese of the Russian Church.
The funeral Liturgy and rite of burial for a hierarch were celebrated at Holy Resurrection Monastery in Samara this morning.
No cause of death is reported, and the Patriarchal Working Group that reports on cases of coronavirus infections and deaths has not reported that Bp. Seraphim’s repose is connected with the pandemic.

Bp. Seraphim was born on March 19, 1969 in Karaganda in an Orthodox family exiled to Kazakhstan during the repressions of the 1930s.
He entered the Moscow Theological Seminary in 1986, after which he became a novice at the Pskov Caves Monastery.
He was ordained to the diaconate on February 16, 1992, and to the priesthood on July 5, 1992. He was also appointed rector of the Holy Resurrection Cathedral then being built in Samara.
He was tonsured as a monastic on June 23, 1998 and was elevated to the rank of igumen on the feast of Pascha in 2000.
In 2002, he graduated from the Moscow Theological Academy with a PhD in theology.
In 2003, the Holy Resurrection Cathedral was turned into the Holy Resurrection Monastery, with Fr. Seraphim appointed abbot. He was elevated to the rank of archimandrite on Pascha in 2010, and was elected Bishop of Voskresensk, vicar of the Moscow Diocese, on March 22, 2011.
He was consecrated as a bishop on May 22, 2011, led by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. A week later, he was appointed the ruling bishop of Anadyr and Chukotka.
By decision of the Holy Synod on December 24, 2015, Bp. Seraphim was retired and placed at the disposal of His Eminence Metropolitan Sergei of Samara and Syzran.
