On Tuesday, June 23, a monk of Moscow’s Sretensky Monastery, Fr. Nikolai (Muromtsev), reposed in the Lord at the age of 44.

“Fr. Nikolai was and will remain for us an example of an amazingly peaceful, bright, and patient person,” reads the statement on Pravoslavie.ru.

Fr. Nikolai was greatly loved by all—the monastic brethren, the Sretensky Seminary students, the monastery staff, and the parishioners, who lovingly called him “Uncle Kolya.”

“The weaknesses and virtues of Fr. Nikolai were always in full view of everyone. He was truly a saint of simplicity. Having gotten into a terrible accident in his youth, Fr. Nikolai remained disabled for the rest of his life. But no one recalls ever hearing him complain to anyone or grumble about the severe pain that accompanied him constantly. He was a wonderfully cheerful, bright, and patient man,” writes Pravoslavie.ru.

May his memory be eternal!
