Ukrainian Church elevates four hierarchs to rank of metropolitan, two to archbishop (+VIDEO)

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine celebrated the 6th anniversary of his enthronement as primate of the Ukrainian Church this morning with the Divine Liturgy on the square in front of the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Kiev Caves Lavra.

During the service, several loyal hierarchs of the UOC were honored on the occasion of the celebration. Four bishops were elevated to the rank of metropolitan, and two to the rank of archbishop, reports His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, the Chancellor of the UOC.

For merits before the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and with the blessing of Met. Onuphry, elevated to the rank of metropolitan were Archbishops Vladimir of Kamensk and Tsarichansk, Philaret of Nova Kakhovka and Genichesk, Nikolai of Kremenchuk and Lubny, and Longin of Bancheny.

Additionally, Bishops Nikolai of Vasilov, vicar of the Kiev Diocese, and Euseby of Shepetovkа and Slavutа were elevated to the rank of Archbishop.

His Eminence Archbishpo Evgeny of Verey was officially installed as the new Metropolitan of Tallinn on Sunday, taking on the primatial see of the Estonian Orthodox Church. The Synod also granted Metropolitan Nifont of Volyn and Lutsk his retirement. Bishop Nathaniel of Kamin-Kashyrskyi was appointed to as ruling bishop of the Volyn Diocese.
