His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus was discharged from the White Cross clinic in Athens yesterday following spinal surgery on Saturday.
The Archbishop was released yesterday afternoon, as his attending physician was pleased with his post-operative recovery and his walking condition, reports the Church of Cyprus.
The Archbishop has had problems with his spine in the past and has also struggled with cancer in the last few years.
In October 2018, the Cypriot primate initially announced that he had been suffering from cancer since that summer and underwent laparoscopic surgery in London to remove two tumors. Upon his return to Cyprus, he began chemotherapy, and in March 2019, he announced that he was cancer free.
It late August it was discovered that his cancer had returned and a new cycle of chemotherapy began, continuing through late-December.
In late January of this year, Abp. Chrysostomos underwent a successful liver surgery in North Carolina.
