Metropolitan Theodosius, former primate of OCA, laid to rest at Transfiguration Monastery (+VIDEO)

On Friday morning, October 23, His Beatitude Metropolitan Theodosius, the former primate of the Orthodox Church in America, was laid to rest at the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania.

Met. Theodosius, who headed the OCA for 25 years, reposed in the Lord on October 19 at the age of 86, following an extended illness.

The requiem Liturgy and burial of the former primate were livestreamed by the OCA from the monastery’s outdoor chapel:

The service was celebrated by His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada together with Archbishop Melchisedek of Pittsburgh, Archbishop Benjamin of San Francisco, Archbishop Michael of New York, Bishop Irinej of Eastern America of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and Metropolitan Savvas of Pittsburgh of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.

His funeral was served the day before at St. John the Baptist Church in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
