According to this morning’s press release from the Serbian Orthodox Church, “the general health condition of His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia has deteriorated as a consequence of COVID-19.”

He remains under the close supervision of a standing team of medical experts and physicians from Russia.

Pat. Irinej, 90, was hospitalized on November 4 after testing positive for the coronavirus, and his health has fluctuated since then. On Sunday, it was reported that his health stabilized after he experienced symptoms of a worsening of his chronic heart fatigue.

Archbishop Anastasios of Albania and Archbishop Ieronymos of Greece are also currently hospitalized with the coronavirus.

May God have mercy upon them and grant them a speedy recovery!
