For more than a month already, priests have been holding daily processions throughout Chernigov, blessing the northern Ukrainian city with prayer, wonderworking icons, and holy water.
Starting with the beginning of the quarantine in the city in the spring, the priests held daily car processions for 3 months. And with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Ambrose of Chernigov, the processions resumed on October 20, reports Orthodox Life.
During the processions, the clergy bless the city streets with holy water and serve molebens and akathists at the entrances to the city, and the clergy and faithful offer prayers for deliverance from the pandemic, for doctors, and for the healing of the sick.
The city is also blessed from all sides with a cross and wonderworking icons. Among the icons taken in procession were those of the Heavenly patrons of Chernigov—Sts. Theodosius, Philaret, Lawrence of Chernigov, Prince Michael of Chernigov and the Boyar Theodore, as well icons of the Holy Trinity, St. Nicholas, and many mothers.
On November 4, the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, a copy of the miraculous image was taken around the city.
